Robert F. Kernan, Jr., MS, CFP®

With over 28 years of industry experience, Robert helps successful families and individuals organize, consolidate and manage their personal financial affairs. He believes that having your financial affairs highly organized provides a strong platform for financial success. Thus, his motivation is to help clients become and stay organized. Throughout his career he has seen the benefits of clients being organized when it comes to making major financial decisions. His areas of focus include: portfolio management, generational wealth transfer and assisting pre-retirees and retirees in managing their assets to provide a lifestyle sustaining income that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence.
Robert started his career after graduating from Stockton University in 1993 with a degree in Financial Management. He obtained his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner designation in 1997 and Master of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning in 2015. As a CFP® practitioner he has met the rigorous experience and ethical requirements of the CFP® Board, having successfully completed the education requirements in the following areas: the financial planning process, risk management, investments, tax planning and management, retirement planning and employee benefits and estate planning. As a principal owner of The NorthStar Advisory Group Registered Investment Advisory firm and CFP® practitioner he is held to the fiduciary standard; a standard of loyalty, care and placing client’s interests first.
Robert resides in Somers Point, NJ with his wife, Kim, two children, Robert III and Alexis and the family dog, Ruby. As an avid cyclist he is a strong believer in the benefits of exercise for both mental and physical health.
Michael A. Rosen
Chief Investment Officer
Michael has over 20 years of financial services experience specializing in asset management. Currently at Northstar, Michael works with families and small businesses on financial planning and investment management. He believes that investing with purpose will lead to better outcomes for clients. In order to accomplish this, he works with clients on understanding their financial situation, risk tolerance, goals, cash flow needs and time horizon. Combined he can help create a superior financial plan and strategy to execute client’s objectives.
Michael currently runs eight different investment strategies utilizing proprietary research. His true passion is working one on one with clients: educating them, planning for them and investing for them. He spends time consulting with small business owners helping them take their businesses to the next level. Having invested in large companies for years he is able to take that insight and personal experiences in running a small business to help challenge business owners to drive higher profitability and operational efficiency.
Prior to joining Northstar Advisory Group Michael was an institutional portfolio manager at various financial institutions including: JP Morgan, Bear Stearns, ING, John Levin & Co, Deutsche Bank and Ark Asset Management. Michael has run billions of dollars across multiple strategies for Institutions, High Net Worth and Retail investors through separately managed accounts and mutual funds. His portfolios have consisted of a bottoms up process using Fundamental, Quantitative and Technical disciplines. He has managed Large/Mid Cap Equity, Asset Allocation, Long/Short and Enhanced Index portfolios.
Michael majored in Finance and Economics and minored in Marketing at the University of Hartford.
He lives with his wife Stacy and their three kids Hailey, Chase and Lexi in Bucks County, PA. He loves spending time with the family and friends, playing and watching sports and exercising. As a veteran portfolio manager, he also spends a lot of time reading and researching companies.
John Karle, CFA
Chief Market Strategist
With an appreciation for the recurring rhythms of history, Mr. Karle evaluates market conditions, authors publications, and identifies investment opportunities in his role as Nautilus CEO and Chief Market Strategist. With two decades of experience as a market analyst, risk manager and head trader for hedge funds, Mr. Karle also translates Nautilus’ research themes into real-time ideas and actions. John works in close partnership with clients to customize solutions to match their needs with Nautilus’ proprietary research capabilities. Prior to Nautilus, Mr. Karle began his career at Deutsche Bank before joining Hellman, Jordan Management, and Mayo Capital Partners, two successful Boston-based hedge funds with assets in excess of $2 billion. John received his B.A. from Harvard in 1993 and his CFA designation in 1999. He is a CFA Institute member, a member of the Boston Security Analyst Society and co-founder of Nautilus Investment Research.

James Cutting, CMT
Mr. Cutting shares the responsibility for technical & macro insights for Nautilus’ research publications. Born and educated in London with 24 years of investment experience, James formed his unique market perspective as a macro trader specializing in foreign exchange and interest rates. Working for Morgan Stanley, Continental Bank and Swissvolks Bank, James was responsible for generating proprietary trading revenues, as well as communicating investment opportunities to global hedge fund and private client counterparties. Prior to co-founding Nautilus in 2004, James traded proprietarily in Chicago. Mr. Cutting is a Chartered Market Technician and a member of the CMT Association.

Senior Client Service Associate
Christina graduated with Program Distinction from Stockton University in 2013, receiving her B.S. in Financial Planning and a minor in Economics. To obtain Program Distinction she needed to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher in her Financial Planning focus.
As the Senior Client Service Associate at NorthStar, Christina enhances the client experience by servicing clients and providing administrative & operational support to the financial advisors. With over fifteen years of customer service experience and ten years in administrative support, Christina confidently manages multiple and competing priorities daily, while effectively resolving client inquiries. Christina is responsible for maintaining client fee schedules & billing configurations, collecting the proper documentation for opening new accounts, service requests and prepares reports & other materials for client meetings. She also assists with the financial planning process by analyzing and assessing client’s financial status, examining client data to develop customized recommendations (with financial advisor’s guidance) as well as preparing a cash flow analysis.
Christina resides in Upper Township, NJ with her husband Justin and enjoys yoga, cooking, arts & crafts and spending time with loved ones.
Client Service Associate
Heather provides support to the NorthStar Advisory Group clients with her attention to detail and knowledge of firm policy, procedures, and technology. This allows her to effectively anticipate client needs, resolve their problems and follow through to provide exceptional service. She has over 20 years of customer service experience, 15 years in the financial services industry.
Heather resides in Ocean View, NJ, and enjoys running, dining out, going to concerts, and time with family and friends.
