Joshua G. Spiewak

Managing Partner Chief Operating Officer

A Wall Street veteran and a builder at heart, Josh brings nearly three decades of institutional experience to overseeing NorthStar’s day-to-day operations and long-term growth.

Prior to joining NorthStar as Chief Operating Officer, Josh spent nearly thirty years in institutional sales and trading, including twenty-three years as a Founding Partner of the boutique investment bank BTIG.

A 1997 graduate of Tulane University, Josh began his career as a Financial Advisor for Gruntal & Co. and Morgan Stanley. He transitioned to the institutional side of the business in 1999 when he joined Spear, Leeds & Kellogg, which was acquired by Goldman Sachs in 2000. Josh remained with Goldman until 2003, when he left with his mentor, Steven Starker, to help co-found BTIG. During his tenure, Josh was responsible for covering some of the firm’s most critical institutional relationships, including prominent hedge funds, mutual funds, and alternative asset managers. He was also deeply committed to talent development, helping train younger employees and playing a key role in establishing the firm’s internship program. Ultimately, he helped scale BTIG from just five employees to over 800 worldwide, establishing it as a premier trading and banking partner. Following BTIG’s acquisition by U.S. Bank in 2026, Josh joined NorthStar to oversee day-to-day operations and drive the firm’s strategic growth.

Josh grew up in Bucks County, PA, and later moved to New York City, where he met his wife, Stacy. The couple spent years raising their family in Bergen County, NJ, before eventually returning to Josh’s roots in Bucks County, where they now reside with their three children, Sloan, Cole, and Jules and their dog, Jerry. Outside of work, Josh is an avid golfer and skier, as well as a lifelong fan of The Grateful Dead.
